MEXICO CITY, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Jonathan Rodriguez struck his seventh goal in 12 La Liga MX matches this season as Cruz Azul secured their 12th straight victory on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Guadalajara.

The Uruguay international forward combined with Roberto Alvaros before expertly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Jose Corona.

Cruz Azul have now won 12 consecutive league matches, equaling the feat achieved by Leon in 2019 and Necaxa in 1934-35.

They have a two-point lead in the Liga MX Clausura over second-placed Club America.

Earlier on Saturday, Emmanuel Gigliotti scored twice while Oswaldo Rodriguez was also on target as Leon won 3-1 at Atlas. Edgar Zaldivar pulled a late goal back for the hosts.
