BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOSCOW -- Russia registered 10,595 more COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, down from 11,022 a day earlier, the country's COVID-19 response center said Sunday.

The national tally has thus increased to 4,322,776 with 89,094 deaths and 3,911,924 recoveries, the center said.

JERUSALEM -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in Israel reached 800,721 on Sunday morning with 994 new cases added since Saturday evening, the Ministry of Health said.

The death toll from the COVID-19 in Israel reached 5,861, while the number of patients in serious condition stands at 724, out of 1,155 hospitalized patients.

ADDIS ABABA -- Ethiopia on Sunday received its first 2.2 million COVID-19 vaccines from COVAX, crucial in the east African country's fight to stop the spread of the pandemic.

The 2.2 million COVID-19 vaccines were received at a ceremony attended by senior Ethiopian government officials as well as representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and United Nations missions based in Ethiopia.

BEIJING -- China has started to provide COVID-19 vaccines to 35 African countries and the African Union Commission, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.

China has so far provided close to 120 batches of emergency supplies to Africa and sent medical expert teams to 15 African countries to support their fight against the pandemic, Wang said.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday 3,276 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 594,412.

It is the third day in a row that the Philippines has been reporting over 3,000 daily confirmed cases.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 11,210,799 on Sunday as 18,711 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 157,756 as 100 COVID-19 patients died since Saturday morning.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 416 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Saturday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 92,471.

The daily caseload stayed above 400 for two straight days, remaining above 300 since mid-February.

SAO PAULO -- Brazil has registered 1,555 new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the nationwide death toll to 264,325, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday.

It also reported 69,609 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, raising the caseload to 10,938,836.
