MEXICO CITY, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Mexico and Guatemala will meet in an international friendly next week, marking the first fixture this year for both teams, the Mexican football federation (FMF) said on Wednesday.
The match will be played at the Azteca stadium in Mexico City on September 30, starting at 9pm local time, according to an FMF statement.
Mexico had been due to face Costa Rica on the same day, but the Central American team withdrew on Tuesday because their players faced a two-week quarantine upon returning home.
El Tri and Guatemala have met 33 times, with Mexico winning 21, drawing eight and losing four.
Mexico are currently 11th in the FIFA rankings while Guatemala are 130th.
