PASIG CITY, June 7 (PIA) - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) again reminded online sellers to strictly follow the price tag law.

Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez discussed over PTV's Public Briefing Laging Handa on Saturday that prices should be included or shown on products being sold online, as well as the product specifications.

"Required po yung price tag law. Kaya hindi po uubra yung walang ganong presyong ilalagay kahit marketing pa nila yun. Dapat ho talaga may price, nakasulat ho yung presyo para nga yung consumer at customer nakakapili. Immediately, makakapili sila ng produkto at presyo na bagay or gusto nila," Lopez explained.

Lopez said that inclusion of price on any product being sold is necessary as stipulated under the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

"Yun po ay nakasaad sa batas. Kailangan ho sundin yun. 'Pag walang price tag, hindi ho pwedeng dapat magbenta online."

He also explained that any form of deception to consumers can be a ground for complaints and consumers can report to DTI's Hotline 1384.

Bawal itong mga PM me, na tatawag ka pa or magte-text ka pa to get the price or get the other details.

The trade and industry chief advised consumers to be cautious of online sale - citing that even President Rodrigo Duterte also recently advised the public to be wary of online selling since scammers take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lopez also reminded consumers to check the background of online sellers to avoid falling prey to scams.

"Ang malaking tulong kung itong online na bibilhan natin ay nasa trusted platform, since they can check the background of online sellers," said Lopez.

Meanwhile, Lopez also warned online sellers saying that online scamming is punishable by law.

(PIA-NCR)
